Well recon may be nice when getting behind enemy lines, but in several videos you can see players spotting them through stealth (they show up as a red haze). Now if you're on defense, I'd say recon wouldn't shine QUITE so much. Granted, a good sniper and/or assassin can take out key targets, but I'm willing to bet that push come to shove, robotics or  defensive assaults will be invaluable. Of course, there are multiple builds it seems (we've heard the assault being a "heavy" type fellow, soaking up a lot of damage, and a "suicide bomber" fellow with lots of explosives, but little health), so ideally it'll come down to your build, what gear your bring, and how you play your class.

Needless to say, I'm sure all the classes will have their situation where they shine.

Agreed...being defensive or offensive will most certainly call for certain classes/builds for each function....which is great.  This is the kind of thing that will add much more depth to the game Smiley

I'm curious to see what an offensive robotics build can do... Considering battle engies in TF2 can wreck havoc if done right.

Melee is probably the biggest complaint among those that have played. If they can add some more depth to the use of melee, a lot of complaints will go away.

Lack of depth as in all there is to melee is swing and hit/miss?  No variation in moves?

I would have to say recon takes the most skill/ability to play and thus is the most effective in PvP. It will be all about controlling the other teams healers and making them in-effective while keeping your healers alive.

Much like a competitive TF2 match Cheesy

I'd have to say Assault/Medic are the hardest to be playing as. As for Robotics/Recon... meh.

Why are assault/medic harder (I am asking as someone who hasn't tried beta yet)?

Robotics has bots and turrets, Recon has melee.

You'll see soon enough  Wink

This is not a game where you are going to be coming up in many 1v1's and if you are then it looks like both sides are going to be going about things the wrong way.

Whilst a lot of people will just want to find the class with the highest damage output to ease of gameplay ratio, I very much doubt a team of recons is going to overcome a well balanced mixed group.

the objective style gameplay particularly in the agency vs agency campaign will also exploit each classes strengths and weaknesses. meaning that each class will have a place. Therefore whoever is sitting at the keyboard is going to be the controling factor rather than who has the developers love during the present patch.
