So how are you guys thinking think pve groups will work? What kind of combinations?
Lots of assault? One or two medics? Even blend?
I haven't read much yet, but would like to know.

I think you are going to need at least 1 Robotics, 1 Medic, and 1 Assault. To me, these seem to be very important to have in a group setup. They bring very important contributions to each group which the Recon class cant provide. However because recon is a purely dps, it may be essential to have for a boss fight, epically with its unique sniping and stealthing abilities. Overall i think that it will be most affective to do with even spread of classes. But games have been played with 3tanks and 2 healers in a group... without the need for any support or heavy dps.

I honestly dont think you will "need" a specific group set up at all. You might be able to roll through and do it with 5 medics, or 5 assault(possible bandaging/potions/stimpacks involved) or 5 recon and just out dps everything. But i did read that you can solo the PvE Content. So...anyone can do it

I think I recall them saying in an interview that they would have different missions geared for different groups, like a mission for 4 people, one of each class.

ATM, my 3 friends and I are going to roll 2 medics, an Assault and a recon. Don't know how much a robotics will be needed, but with 2 medics I'm sure we could handle anything that is thrown at us. Now as for pve I would hope that it is like any other mmo I have played and that medics are needed for missions... manly because that is what I'm going to play, and it is nice to be a needed character.

Keep in mind that when they did speak of the big-bad-bosses in GA they talked about everyone taking turns taking hits as well as dodging projectiles. It might be fully useable that there is no "tank" class, assault can take more blows sure, but if they do something akin to the old school shooters that bosses simply are big-evil folks who hit ungodly hard, but their attacks can be dodged or shot down, or simply have otherwise avoidable attacks. It might not require a tanking setup, but it may still. Depends on how they implement it.

This area does interest me alot. I would like to see how well the balance of PvP and PvE relate to each other. Many in the past have leaned one way or another and have yet to find that equilibrium.

Yea i could see how you would need a 1 of each class for a balanced group. Depending on if they open the PvE encounters up to more then 4 players though
