Yeah WAR was a year of waiting's worth of disappointment. Had such high hopes too!

Thankfully Hirez is indie, not going to have EA to crash onto it so it releases earlier.

Definitely... Mark Jabocs told EA it wasn't ready for release... but EA wanted to release it, it just wasn't ready... Coulda been such a great game too.

Yep... and now Mythic is with Bioware...

I donno, I though Mark Jacobs did an alright job. He was good with DAoC before ToA, but I mean he tried to correct his mistakes, I guess it backfired on him though. They shoulda just made on big RvR area instead of 9 different zones to go too... That way it's too hard to find action, everything is so seperated. Plus Warhammer keeps compared to DAoC keeps.... There's really no comparison, DAoC blows Warhammer out of proportions.

Yeah I never understood how a company that did so much right, could then do so much wrong.

All they had to do was clone the RvR model from DAoC and I'm sure they would be better off.

Speaking of which, DAoC should have that big server transfer soon, I'm thinking of taking them up on their latest come back to camelot offer then just to kill some time.

meh, i hated WAR, the classes to me were very boring.. and the pvp wasnt all that everyone made it out to be.

i would have agreed that a clone of DaoC RvR would have been more successful.

I liked alot of the classes in War. The only problems with them were they weren't very diverse. Each class really only had one good spec line to go, they changed as the game grew older, with patches and class changes. But most of the classes really only had 1 good spec line. That was one of it's biggest problems.

PvP in scenarios was extremely fun, 260972360 times better than any of WoW's. But the problem with "RvR" was that you needed alot of people to have fun, and with that, Mythic did not have the resources at the time to maintain a strong connection for all these players. Not to mention, the keeps were poorly and what seemed, hastily created (They just now updated keeps In a newer patch). Keeps only had one ramp, thats only one choke point, for the defenders to defend, and the attacker to invade. This made it really hard for the attackers, on top of lag, and how Op most tanks were early game, to take a keep. Open RvR really only consisted of terrible keep combat, ever so boring BOs... and the only real fun was the player vs player battles in these RvR areas. Most of early War was just mindless RvE...

Another problem was that all this action was spread out over too many zones, they should of had at most three, if not just one. One would of been perfect, would have required less servers to maintain, and would of been easier for player to find action quicker.

In the beginning days of War, in beta, and word from Alpha testers. The game didn't even have open land rvr. The game PRIMARILY consisted of Scenarios and PvE, and BO's. Until Mythic listened to players that insisted they add RvR combat with keeps and what not. If they would of just took what they mastered with DAoC and applied it with War, it would be Platinum for sure. I'm also not too sure why they didn't add DAoC style Battleground in game on top of Scenarios. Like Caledonia, Thidranki, Molvik and what not. These would of made this game much much better...

P.S. ....Sad to say, but I thought they learned their mistakes from DAoC as well. I mainly mean "Trials of Atlantis" who many DAoC vets call ToA (Pretty sure most of you know this, but for you noobies who've read this!!) But look at Land of the Dead, it barely reminds me of how golden Darkness Falls was. It totally reminds me of ToA, and the burdens it brought upon DAoC. (Having to get better gear to compete, everyone wearing the same items, GRIND GRIND GRIND.) Land of the Dead, is basically, ToA, with PvP, NUFF SAID... FAHHKKK.

I hadn't heard anything good about that new Land of the Dead content, what a shame.

My bro is playing his old DAoC accounts on the free 10 days they just gave out and it's funny how much better those keeps are designed. Was the keep update anything significant?

Pretty much any of DAoC's rvr elements copied into WAR would probably be beneficial for it at this point!

Yea, there's really nothing good about Land of the Dead, besides that it looks like a cool zone.

I was going to resub to DAoC when the merge happened, which apparently is in the next patch. Can't wait to be honest. DAoC's keeps are flawless and they look 10x better. As for the keep update, I'm not subbed, my brother skill plays. He has a Realm Rank 80 Archmage. But he doesn't engage in ORvR, he only plays Scens cause he know that's the only thing good in the game (He's also a vet of DAoC, so he knows what good PvP/RvR is.) I'll ask him if the keep update is any good based on his next ORvR experience. On the site though, it said there was 2 ramps instead of one. So MEH, little better maybe?

What bugs me is they added a lot of DAoC in War. But it was EXTREMELY half assed, and unpolished. They could of made it so much better than they did. I blame EA for pushing the release. If the game would have released at a later date, it would have been more prepared. I only blame Mythic a little, it was mostly EA!!

If they would have copied DAoCs rvr pvp, to a perfect T. This game would be in a way better shape. DAoC to War, is like a 386 to a Pentium 4.
