I feel your pain.  I played WAR from launch for about 6 months with my Ironbreaker, but after eventually I couldn't take the boredom of PvPing in the same map over and over (since at that time, keep-taking was a lame zerg-fest).

B

you lasted longer than me....and i had such high hopes. I thought "hmm they made Daoc, this is going to be great"
I was very dissappointed. Now I got cod4 to hold me till mw2..till GA...sweet GA

Can you guys talk about DAoC? I've really not heard of anyone playing it until I got here. Looks a little dated, but that isn't a concern for me.

It would be a little hard to get into as a brand new player as it currently is now. It has one full server left now after the last merge, which is a nice amount of people for the gameplay it has.

The issue is that everyone in there still is pretty much the best they can be so you would be at a pretty serious disadvantage.

Yea, He's right. Alot of the current players in DAoC are veterans who have stuck with the game through thick and thin. Which means that 90% of them are going to be really good.
Although it takes some time to get good at the game, once you actually do. It's in my opinion one of the most enjoyable MMO's I've played. If you get a good group of people who enjoy the game, and know what they're doing. Then you'll have a great experience. The PvP/RvR is amazing. You just have to know what you're doing.
You can actually practice your PvP in the early stages of the game via battlegrounds. Most people access Thidranki, a level 20-24 battleground, it's pretty fun and can get intense. BGs are a great way to learn the PvP essentials of solo, and group combat. (Even some PvE there, you get alot more XP for killing monsters there since theres more danger with it being a PvP area)

I've also been playing Borderlands, but I'm basically done with it since I'm level 50 with both playthroughs beaten and excellent weapons... I one shot almost every monster now. I need some DLC!

P.S. I feel that MMO's today, like WoW and Warhammer, the style. Have made PvP and gameplay much easier (More fluid too) then MMO's before them. DAoC is old, and is a completely different style MMO than WoW. (It's Somewhat like Warhammer in some aspects) But DAoC is 10x better than any MMO I've ever played. You just have to adapt to it.

I agree...I haven't played DAoC in a long time, but it was my first MMO experience and probably the best I had too, although a lot of that was due to the players.  I liked WAR for the parts that were similar, but unfortunately it flopped in too many places.

The battlegrounds in DAoC were a riot...those were the days Smiley

I finished Borderlands on my first play-through last night...my soldier is 37 and raring to go for the second round...next some good weapons!

Looking forward to Dragon Age: Origins.  Still love me some HoN. Tried out Combat Arms yesterday for the hell of it. Not bad, but not so good.
