So after some recent interviews, it appears the crafting system in Global Agenda will be fundamental to "gearing" your character. This quite reminds me of DAoC's spellcrafting in a way (hopefully far less tedious...) back in the first expansion. Gearing didn't mean going on tiresome raids for long hours, it simply meant gathering the mats and finding a crafter to put it all together.

I like what I am hearing!

Is it just me or would blueprints to make different types of armor and weapons sound even better?

Yeah, I could see that. You find the blueprint, people come to you to make them their high powered rifle.

Or maybe each crafter has their own blueprints, and you go to the crafter who has created an item design that you like. Player driven item design maybe?

I LOVE this system. I hope when you make your gear it says that you made it, im a huge sucker for personalization on gear.  Not to mention the fact that you can only get blue prints from the PvE Lab levels(from what i have read) and the materials from the mine levels. Gives reason to "dungeon crawl" and shoot stuff up with your friends in a little bit more relaxed environment then PvP. Also i hope when you craft it will have random stats or something randomized. Instead of "Sniper Rifle of Aim" or "Sniper Rifle 2" same stats, same cosmetics as EVERY other blueprint in that level range.

I loved crafting in DAoC, pre-ToA DAoC was amazing though. I miss it so much, still my favorite game of all time. I haven't played a game to date that has matched DAoC's epicness. But yea, gearing before ToA with just Darkness Falls and maybe some Shrouded Isles (SI wasn't too bad imo) was good. Was more fair it seemed, and easy, not everybody had the same gear! You felt better after getting a fairly good piece of gear too. (Like Legions sword or something) After ToA, to even become a match vs an opponent with gear you had to spend hours after hours of mindless PvE, just to PvP with the same gear as other people Sad . After that, the game was done for...

I'm waiting for the full server merger and DAoC Origins server to come out before I resub to check the game out again. I heard it's easy mode as of now.

Well all the expansions are free now, Killbury pop is still dead though or I'd try it again.

Yea... I played Mordred a bit, and Lancelot Hib. But the full server merger should be decent, at least 3000 people will be playing on one server. Basically a server population status from early game.

Wouldn't mind bringing out the Nightshade and Light Eldy for some action.

I don't know if i like that you only get components for crafting but killing enemies, crafting in other games has kinda been the alternative to fighting. I will miss going into a open world and just safely picking up my rocks.

Well there's really no big open area that you COULD go and do such things, unless they involved gathering in the social hubs of the citys as well (which would be frankly kind of strange). On the plus side look at it this way, you should be (from what we understand) be able to go solo the areas your going to be getting the materials from.. So its just a much more action focused (and hopefully fun) way to get crafting. Tongue

Are there going to be different crafting classes, or will the crafting be based on which type of agent you pick?  For example, will Assault only be able to use blueprints to make an Assault weapon.

the crafting speculations sound awesome...

lets hope for some new, innovative crafting system...
or a hybrid of old ones...

and i hope it isn't too tedious to "master" a crafting profession - i always get near the end and quit because its simply more work with not enough reward.  Tongue

I'd think you wouldn't be restricted to only crafting items for your class. They said that there would be an auction house in game. So, I'm guessing that not only will you gets items via PvE, and PvP to use and sell/trade, but you can also craft items as well to do this.

I'm hoping you'll be able to craft Recon, or Medic gear as an Assault. So on so forth.

Classes no, but if you mean like different crafting lines? Hasn't sounded like it but they ONLY introduced crafting this last beta I believe, so its not like its been a hugely fledged out system that they have talked about. It seems currently you get blueprints, you get ore, you make stuff. I personally am not expecting them to have a big complicated system of it. Honestly? I wouldn't be too surprised if there was no actual "leveling" of the crafting itself, simply you acquire blueprints and create things directly as long as you have materials and blueprint that is required. It would actually be relatively smart, because the rarity of things than gets basically controlled (somewhat) by the rarity of the blueprints, and as time goes on everything gets progressively more common at which point new blueprints can be released. This is a action focused game that is heavy on the PvP and not running around to farm, so having to sit around and grind skill points will be.. Painful. Not to mention there hasn't been any mention of skill points for anything anywhere.

Roxxas : If you think the WoW system took too much time.. Play some other MMOs. Tongue The WoW system was a joke, an exceptionally easy joke.
