So here is a question I have been wondering about...interviews have indicated that each class has more than one skill set they can spec into.  Does anyone have any information about the number of trees for each class (2 or 3)?  Has anyone heard many details about how extensive the trees will be, or more details about the type of skills?  I am really curious about that aspect of the game.

I hope it isn't the typical tree.  It seems to be the standard anymore.  I would like to see something a little more free for speccing but with maybe level requirements instead of "how many points in this tree" stuff.  A more flexible system for character development.  Something that hasn't been achieved IMO since Neverwinter Nights.  Feel free to correct me if I am wrong.

interviews say 3 trees, and we don't know allot about them. The example they used was Assault and medic, where assault can focus more on damage or on taking damge and the medic can gain better healing or can dish out more toxin and you will unlock different skills in the trees to aid in that focus. Besides that there has not been allot of inforation..closed beta and all

Yup, 3 trees. Each tree gives you a pretty unique role to play as you would expect.

Nothing really seems final though in terms of skills, number of points, etc.

Aye...I too was unsure if there was more than two, but I guess three is pretty much industry standard these days Smiley

I really hope, though, that having three trees leads to the inclusion of a bunch of useless skills.  Some games pad the trees with skills no one uses in order to make it look like one can customize their character, but in the end everyone use the same build.

Funny thing is that we know what 2 of the 3 skill trees can do for each class, but the last skill tree we don't... And that has me thinking of what it could POSSIBLY be!

For example, we know:

-Assault: meat shield/fragile explosive expert
-Recon: Sniper/sneaky meleer
-Medic: Healer/Poisoner
-Robotics: Drones/turrets

Any thoughts?

I have been wondering if the Medic would have a buffing tree...stimulants and such.

Continuing on my speculation and hopes about the third lines...

Assault: Rifles expert (kind of a damage class for ranged combat).
Recon: Saboteur (could be useful against base components and field equipment...I admit that this idea is weak).
Medic: Stimulant expert (for buffing).
Robotics:.....?

Hmm... Assault being a rifle expert could step on Recon's sniping skills a touch, considering it's been confirmed that there's more then one sniper rifle (and they work differently). As for recon, disruption could work... Like how EMP in BF2142 scrambled your vision. That would be an interesting support role for recon, for those who are more insidious. ;3

Medic I'm not sure about... I'd rather not have it just be buffing, but can't really think of anything else to put there. And I smiled at how there's nothing for robotics. Tongue

Yeah I just couldn't think of what robotics would be...

I agree with the rifle thing and recon, but I was more thinking mid-range weapons like assault rifles rather than extreme range, so the overlap wouldn't be severe.

As far as I have understood, each class except for recon has an offensive and defensive tree (recon having two offensive trees obviously) that are quite different from each other.

I think it would be fair to speculate that the third tree for each class might supplement the other two.
